Bryce Canyon and Summer Adventures
Sorry its been a while since I've updated the old blog. I've just been busy this summer. Things are going great. I'm still working full time at BYU. Its been kind of hard to get used to working this much. It's hard to do much else in my day besides work eat and sleep, but I'm still happy. I've been dating Stacey for over 2 months now. We are doing great. We've had lots of great times together and I'm excited about the future.
This last weekend was Pioneer day, so we all had Friday off of work. On Thursday afternoon, we packed up our bags and headed south towards Bryce Canyon. It was a 4 hour drive down. We camped near a reservoir in Tropic Utah. It was a nice night. We got up Friday morning, packed up camp and headed out to Bryce. We spent most of the day hiking the trails and driving to the lookout points. It was fun, but very hot. By the afternoon, we were all really tired, sunburned, and overheated.
We ended the day by going to a waterfall and cooling down. We drove over to our campsite in the middle of the desert and enjoyed a wonderful dinner of steak and potatoes. We all went to bed pretty early. A big storm rolled in over us, but lucky for us, it didnt rain much.
We woke up on saturday, broke camp and hiked around Kodachrome state park. It was alot like Bryce, but it had these really cool monolithic pillars that shot straight up out of the ground. We found some cool picture spots and fun places to explore. By the early afternoon we were exhausted yet again. We had planned to go check out some slot canyons, but we were too tired to, so we just headed home. We got back to Provo about 6pm, unpacked, ate, and went to bed.
It was a good trip. It offered beautiful scenery and challenging hikes. I was happy to spend it with good friends and a wonderful girlfriend. I'm also glad we made it back safely. Until next time...
